Lacy-Elmo Puppies
Born June 26, 2011

Four days before Lacy gave birth, she was as big as a watermelon!

June 26: "I'm ready!" Lacy went into labor just a few minutes after this picture was taken.

June 26, Day 1: This morning, Lacy gave birth to five big, active, healthy puppies.
A big thank you to Dr. Anderson and the staff at Anacortes Animal Hospital
for another successful delivery.

You should see the 43 outtakes!

Day 18: RIght on schedule, the puppies are up and walking.
Well, sort of - maybe standing and stumbling would describe it better.
They are active for a few minutes, then are piled up sleeping again,
waiting for their next mommy meal.

Day 21: "Does this blue towel make my butt look big?"

Day 24: A heating pad under the towel and a little sister on top -
the boys should be plenty warm.

Day 26: Where's Mom? It's breakfast time!

Day 27: Lacy patiently counts the days until her puppies are weaned.

Day 28: The puppies got their first taste of puppy gruel today.
Then they all got baths!

FOUR WEEK PORTRAITS

The larger brindle girl is the largest of the five puppies - 2 pounds, 9 1/2 ounces.
She loves being held and is a total sweetheart.

The darker cream boy is currently our favorite.
He weighs 2 pounds, 7 1/4 ounces.

MORE FOUR WEEK PORTRAITS

The brindle boy is the most active and vocal of the puppies.
It was hard to get him to stand still for a picture! He weighs 2 pounds, 2 1/2 ounces.

We nicknamed this guy "polar bear" because he was so white when he was born.
Since then, his coat's developed a nice, gold overtone. He weighs 2 pounds, 1 1/4 ounces.

Day 29: Time to move to the bigger wading pool!

Day 31: Mealtime has become a much more orderly affair
compared to the first few days.

Day 31: Lunch is finished - time for a nap pile-up.

Day 36: Sometimes the ears are up, sometimes they're down,
and sometimes they're somewhere in between.

Day 40: Hoooowwwll! The puppies are starting to practice their vocal expressions.
We're trying to not pick them up when they whine and bark, but it's hard to not do it.

SIX WEEK PORTRAITS

The puppies are six weeks old today. They're all energetic and playful, with great appetites.
They still feed from Lacy at least once a day, but at this point, most of their nutrition is coming from
puppy kibble softened with warm water. We're just starting to see individual personalities develop.

Definitely a "where's my camera?" moment!

The puppies have graduated from towels to real beds,
and they're very happy about it!

One more sleepy picture. We'll post some action shots soon!

The puppies are eight weeks old. They've gotten a little too big to fit in their old bed.

Day 64: All ten ears are up (at least for now).
The puppies get to play in the yard now, and they're having a great time.

Ten weeks old, ten ears up.

Tug of war! The puppies prefer a tennis ball in a sock over all the expensive toys.

Relaxing with grandpa Maxx on a perfect summer day.

11 weeks old: The cream boys pause for a moment before deciding where to play next.

The puppies are 12 weeks old.
Baby Girl thinks that her brother makes a great pillow!

Let's play, Mom!

The first puppy is off to her new home with proud owners Amanda and Roland.
She's going to be named Gertie, like her great grandmother.

Baby Girl takes a break from running in the yard,
hiding out in a tote.

Polar Bear, now known as Louis, has settled happily into his new home.
